Tim Kaine (D-VA) has run a campaign of negative attacks and misinformation in his quest to become the next senator from Virginia. While this falls into the Democratic playbook, his heightened attacks on George Allen (R-VA) have approached ludicrous levels.
Just about every campaign email from the Kaine campaign has not been about our country but either: a) Karl Rove, b) Sheldon Adelson, c) the mythical GOP war on women, d) outside groups unfairly attacking Tim Kaine, or e) Karl Rove some more.
So the main campaign message is to elect Tim Kaine so he can protect you from bogeyman Karl Rove hiding under your bed.
Attacking private citizens is not a campaign strategy. However, since the campaign is being run by Mo Elleithee, who has a history of gutter politics (think Bob McDonnell college thesis attacks), it is not a surprise they went this way.
And yet does Tim Kaine distance himself from outside liberal radicals from supporting his campaign efforts? He makes it seem like it’s just him against the world. In reality, this is far from the truth. For instance:
George Allen slams green group, Dems for launching attack ad during Sandy:
The League of Conservation Voters and Majority PAC, which is trying to keep the Senate in Democrats’ hands, on Monday announced an $800,000 attack ad in three Virginia media markets. It will begin airing Tuesday, the groups said.
Launching attack ads while the state is drowning from Sandy, very classy.
George Allen Targeted By Unions In $2.25 Million Ad Campaign:
The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), the National Education Association and the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) are spending $2.25 million on the ad campaign. The first commercial will appear in the expensive Washington media market. The ad barrage will last until the election.
Majority PAC, a group seeking to keep the Senate in Democratic hands, and the League of Conservation Voters have launched two ads aimed at Allen’s record when he served in the Senate. The $1.6 million campaign will air the spots in several different media markets across the state, the groups said.
Why do Democrats insist on running campaigns of ridicule and attacks? Where are the ideas? Where are the real campaign issues? Their entire campaign strategy across the country is to trick and scare people into voting against their opponents and, by default, for them. To pretend like outside groups are attacking you mercilessly while you defend your nonexistent moderate record only works if voters are stupid. Unfortunately for Time Kaine, in Virginia they are not.
P.S. Is anyone really excited about Democratic Party policies? Anyone know what they are exactly?
