Today Wisconsin voters go to the polls in the recall election of Governor Scott Walker. If Walker becomes the first governor to successfully survive a recall, he may well go down as a legend in conservative and political circles.
Chances are good that he may very well. In most polls Governor Scott Walker has a healthy lead. Even in slanted Democratic polls he leads, albeit in the margin of error:

A Walker victory would mean a number of things, most notably:
1. The union movement is effectively dead as an influential political mechanism. They went all out to get rid of Walker in a sour grapes tantrum. If their millions of dollars and grassroots campaigns are not effective in a liberal state like Wisconsin then where can they be effective? Detroit? They sucked the life out of that town years ago. Union members might start holding their radical representatives accountable, demanding they waste less of their dues on political partisanship and more on actually helping workers. Union membership has been on the decline for years and has been holding onto threads like card check and getting union friendly candidates into office. As more right-to-work laws are being enacted the influence of unions clearly has an expiration date.
2. Scott Walker showed a conservative approach to governing works anywhere, even in liberal Wisconsin. For all the spin the left bemoans regarding conservatism, none of it is worth anything.
3. Scott Walker can right his own ticket. Television personality? Radio show? Senator? VEEP? POTUS? Anything is possible. The tale of a victorious Walker would grow even more legendary as time progresses.
4. Tommy Thompson wins the other senate seat in Wisconsin, giving them 2 GOP senators to go with the governors mansion. This election may or may not have any impact on that race but is worth mentioning. At the very least it will demoralize Democrats and energize Republicans. Thompson may have won anyway but this wouldn’t hurt.
Scott Walker’s policies have lowered unemployment and help eliminate a major budget deficit in Wisconsin. All of this despite constant harassment from union thugs hell bent on taking their tantrum nuclear. Walker deserves to be elected and in doing so he will be placed among the top heroes in political lore.
Governor Scott Walker, Legend?
