Buffoons of the Week: Obama Campaign Team for their Dog Wars

"Better in a crate then on a plate"

The aptly named dog wars took up much of the nonsensical political battles for the week. This was a battle started by the Obama campaign team and it completely blew up in their face. With more brilliant strategic moves like this, Mitt Romney can start measuring the drapes in the White House.

To catch you up to speed, Obama spokesperson Diane Sawyer recently revealed that in 1983 the Romney family went on vacation. In their drive they put Seamus the family dog in a cage and strapped it to the the top of the car. The Obama campaign proceeded to jump all over this revelation, asserting this disqualified Mitt Romney from becoming president or something.

This smoking gun was supposed to expose the insensitivity Michael Vick like behavior of the cruel and unjust Mitt Romney. Unfortunately for the incompetent Team Obama, it was almost immediately exposed that Barack Obama not only has eaten dog but he willfully wrote about it in his book Dreams from my Father:

“With Lolo, I learned how to eat small green chill peppers raw with dinner (plenty of rice), and, away from the dinner table, I was introduced to dog meat (tough), snake meat (tougher), and roasted grasshopper (crunchy). Like many Indonesians, Lolo followed a brand of Islam that could make room for the remnants of more ancient animist and Hindu faiths. He explained that a man took on the powers of whatever he ate: One day soon, he promised, he would bring home a piece of tiger meat for us to share.”

Needless to say we have all been having a field day over this revelation. Jim Treacher at the Daily Caller has been hilariously relentless. So what is more insensitive? Putting a dog in a crate and on top of car or eating the animal?

"This is my favorite part right here"

The fact of the matter is neither issue is important. Is Barack Obama a terrible president because he ate dog? No. Would Mitt Romney be a terrible president because of his exploits on a 1983 family vacation? No. We are already in silly season in the political world. Voters get a rise out of this kind of thing and the Obama campaign thinks there are plenty of people who are too stupid to realize neither of these stories have any affect on the presidential capabilities of either candidate.

From a political perspective the Obama campaign really screwed up. I thought Dreams from my Father was required reading for the Obama team? It has been confirmed required reading for members of the State Department for sure. How could they of missed that? Or were they just too arrogant to think this could come back to bite them (pun intended)?

I predict we will see many more asinine battles like this before the election. The Obama team is going to do and try anything to obfuscate their dear leader’s dismal record.

Hold them accountable.
