A new report shows evidence that the Barack Obama White House pays women much less than men:
Female employees in the Obama White House make considerably less than their male colleagues, records show.
According to the 2011 annual report on White House staff, female employees earned a median annual salary of $60,000, which was about 18 percent less than the median salary for male employees ($71,000).
This isn’t even the first accusation of gender discrimination against Barack Obama:
In a 2011 article titled “The White House Boys’ Club: President Obama Has a Woman Problem,” TIME magazine’s Amy Sullivan detailed the president’s fondness for male-dominated environments.
“There’s a looseness to Obama when he’s hanging out with the boys club that doesn’t appear in co-ed gatherings,” she wrote. “The president blows off steam on the golf course with male colleagues and friends. He takes to the White House basketball court with NBA stars, men’s college players, and male cabinet members and members of Congress.”
As a presidential candidate in 2008, Obama was criticized for paying the women on his campaign staff less than the men, and far less than GOP opponent John McCain paid his female staffers.
Where are the feminists now? Will there be a scathing editorial from Gloria Steinem forthcoming? Where are the campaigns against Barack Obama from radical feminist organizations like the National Organization for Women (NOW) and Planned Parenthood? If they remain silent on this then that proves they are just plain hypocrites who support extreme liberalism, not women’s rights.
Truth be told I always question reports like these. Pay rates are much too complex to generalize in these terms. Often if you really dissect the numbers you’ll find discrepancies like the study compared the salary of a female janitor to a male CEO and declared it must be a direct result of sexism. They also fail to account for other factors such as work experience and education. An employee might have the same job title but if a male has a master’s degree and 5 more years of experience than his female counterpart then he is probably going to be paid more money. The bottom line is it is impossible to determine sexism based on looking at numbers. There are too many factors at play.
That being said, although I usually take an objective eye to these sorts of things, the left almost always does not. They are quick to judge and a report like this coming out against a Republican and you could count the seconds until massive protests were organized against him. They don’t really care if it’s true or not as long as they get a chance to get some press out of it. So when they fail to make a big deal out of something like this it really exposes their hypocrisy. I will of course give them the benefit of the doubt and will watch the wires for any organization from feminist groups against the President. If I find any I’ll happily report them.
So who exactly is waging a war on women?
