Dave Ramadan has gained the disfavor of a certain lunatic fringe who supports Jo-Ann Chase. Ramadan came out in support of the Ground Zero Mosque and his ex-wife Ghanda Abdul Rahman Zoghbi allegedly has some ties to the Lebanese Army. This has apparently caused some voters to accuse him of being al-Qaeda…or something. They have protested Ramadan in an attempt to out him as some sort of America hating plant for terrorists.
To me it’s a bit odd that a conservative would support the Ground Zero Mosque. We don’t need a victory shrine for radical Islamists at the site of their biggest victory. Even if you disagree with that assessment it doesn’t make sense to champion that issue in a contested primary. What voters are you trying to capture with that issue? But that doesn’t make you a member of al-Quaeda if you do.
More importantly though, many of the Jo-Ann Chase supporters are conspiracy nuts with a history of championing crazy causes so this really doesn’t come as much of a surprise. If Chase wants the support of those characters, and I haven’t seen anything that shows her attempting to distance herself from it, then she doesn’t deserve to win. There is also some issue with a private investigator and her divorce filings from years ago in addition to a number of other crazy activities.
On the other hand Ramadan doesn’t look like much of a conservative himself. The email below was sent out today proclaiming Chase as a space alien…yes I wrote that right. I wonder if one of his staff wrote this email as a joke and accidentally mailed it out. From a PR perspective when you’re running against a conspiracy magnet like Jo-Ann Chase, you ignore them. You don’t give them a platform because you risk dropping to their level. Sending out an email belittling them may be funny behind the closed doors of the campaign office but it serves no purpose whatsoever. I sent an email to the campaign for clarification and will update this post if I hear back, but nothing yet.
I’m just glad I don’t like in the 87th because I wouldn’t have a strong desire to vote for either one of these winners. Hopefully they beat the Democrat, whoever gets the nomination, and then we can primary them out next election cycle.

Dear Friends,
For the past few months, you all had to endure crazy and false accusations about David Ramadan, his heritage, his background, his faith, his business dealings and about his family. The most recent accusation that he doesn’t live in the district is equally as false and as fabricated as any.
We admit, our opponent sure is creative in her writing. Not wanting to be outdone in the absurd, we feel it’s important that we share the results of an investigation the campaign has conducted on Jo-Ann Chase. The information is mind blowing, mind altering and surely will sell millions of tabloids. You see, after receiving hundreds of anonymous tips from neighbors of Jo-Ann Chase, and following up on these leads, we have discovered that Jo-Ann Chase is in fact an alien from another planet. I know I know. It’s a shocking claim. But we have proof that Jo Ann is in fact from the planet DBM …located in another solar system.

We have requested an official investigation from the Men in Black …and that group from the Transformers movies.
Unfortunately since the information is in fact top secret, we can’t disclose all we know. But trust us when we say Jo Ann Chase in an alien. We conducted an investigation and we have anonymous secret sources.
To learn more, stop by any grocery store next week and pick up September’s issue of the World Weekly News.

Sincerely,
Bobby Talbot
Campaign Manager
