Who is the POTUS? Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama?

Hillary ClintonI might be getting older and memory isn’t what it used to be, but I’m pretty sure the country elected Barack Obama in 2008. However, reading the news lately it seems like Hillary Clinton is the de facto President of the United States.

Hillary Clinton has been at the forefront of the conflict in Libya. She has been the main spokesperson and the face of the United States as we launch cruise missiles into Libya. She has been meeting and planning the strikes with French President Nicolas Sarkozy, not Obama. This statement is as presidential of a statement as I would expect from any President:

“This is a fluid and fast-moving situation, which may be the understatement of the time,” Clinton said. “People have a lot of questions about what next, and what will we be doing. This is a broad international effort. The world will not sit idly by while more innocent are killed…We are standing with the people of Libya and we will not waver in our efforts to protect them.”

Hillary Clinton has even been working diligently with the coalition leaders during the bombings…something you would think our President would be doing.

But where is Barack Obama? Living it up in sunny Rio de Janeiro. Follow the link to see a cute picture of PBO playing soccer with the children of Rio while Libya burns.

You can’t mail in the presidency of the United States. It’s not fair to the people of this country to have a president who is more in love with the idea of being president, than actually doing their job.

There is a lot not to love about Hillary Clinton but at least she knows a thing or two about being a leader. It’s a fact that her policies were never right for this country. George W. Bush didn’t always have policies that were right for this country either, but at least he knew something about leadership and honor. You never saw George W. Bush wakeboarding or playing gold during war time.

Speaking of great leadership, it’s important to remember this isn’t the first time we have bombed Libya. In 1986 Ronald Reagan bombed the heck out of Gadhafi and Libya in response to his role in terrorist acts against the United States. Reagan took this act very seriously and never tried to downplay the seriousness of this military strike. He spoke directly to the American people to explain why he would never allow Americans to be killed on his watch without severe retribution. When Reagan got on national television he showed exactly why he is remembered as one of the greatest leaders of all time.

Here is the video, it still gives me goosebumps:
